It's clear the solar industry is maturing when the IEEE PVSC conference starts to shift its technical program downstream; The IEEE conference is one of the best technical conferences in the PV space, and the 2015 conference, held in New Orleans in June was no exception.
Importantly for Solar Analytics; the growing interest and activity downstream in module performance metrics, quality and monitoring was notable.
I travelled to New Orleans to represent Solar Analytics at this interactive forum for researchers, engineers, technology and business leaders from industry, academia and government. There were a number of good presentations and posters on field performance of modules, environmental impacts and how to model for them.
While there are a number of studies of monitoring and system performance at the utility scale, it is clear that Solar Analytics is still leading in its application of smart analytics to the consumer solar space.
New Orleans was a great host city and I'm looking forward to going back sometime when there's less interesting work on and more time for play! You can read more about the conference here.
